About Us

        The Main-Transit Fast Pokes are the junior team for the Main-Transit Slo-Pokes, they are comprised of members of the Main-Transit Fire Department's Explorer Post #2283, and compete in Firematic Competitions. They participate in foot races, which utilize many everyday firefighting skills. The members of the team develop unity, dedication, and skill amongst themselves, and a pride within the post. As they compete against other Junior or Explorer teams from across the state. Spectators are welcome to any and all tournaments, so come support the future.         Within the Western New York Explorers Drill Team Association the Fast Pokes compete with many explorer posts from the Rochester area including: the Point Pleasant Jr. Pea Pickers, Spencerport Green Onions, Sea Breeze Indians, Brockport Port City Raiders, Chili Jr. Slackers and the Barnard Little Rascals. All of the races with Western Explorer Teams use 1.5 inch fire hose. The Fast Pokes do not use any type of motorized equipment. However they do use a hand pull cart. The events that the Fast Pokes participate in with the Western New York Explorers are: Efficiency, Line Replacement, Wye, Efficiency Replacement, Cart Hose Replacement, and Bucket Brigade.
